Marius Fabre soapworks: a family Story

The Marius Fabre Soapworks, located near ACE Hotel, was established by Marius Fabre in 1900. He was 22 at the time. Since then, and despite wars, economic turmoil and societal change, the soapworks has continued to manufacture hand made Marseille soap and black soap (savon noir) made with olive oil.
Marie and Julie Bousquet-Fabre, the founder’s great-grandchildren, continue to bravely and zealously carve out a new chapter in their big and beautiful family history, by reaffirming its founding principles: high quality raw materials and traditional soap-making techniques using a cauldron.
In 2009, the business was awarded the label “Living Heritage Company”, a distinction granted by the Ministry of the Economy, Industry and Employment.
Visit the dedicated soapworks shop at the end of your tour.
